Description: A view of Wellington hills and gullies, with evidence of bush clearing in the foreground. The Rimutakas are visible in the centre distance. Title supplied by vendor. The artist arrived in Wellington in August 1849, the year this painting was done. He and his family lived at the property Homewood in Karori while waiting for his house to be built.
