Date: 1878

By: Barraud, Charles Decimus, 1822-1897

Reference: G-009

Possibly shows a scene near Te Wairoa (the 'buried village'), near the site of the Pink and White Terraces Related works: G-010 was painted as a pair along with this painting; it is fair to suggest that it was also painted in the proximity of its companion, which was painted at Rotomahana Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - C D B / 78 [in red brushpoint]; Verso - centre - Prepared by / Brodie & Middleton / 79 Long Acre, London [stamped on back of canvas] Quantity: 1 oil(s).
