Of the four b&w postcards, two were published, and possibly taken by, Tanner Brothers, one was taken by David Aldersley, and the other photographer is unidentified. Description: Steamship `Takapuna' at Wellington Harbour, photographed by David James Aldersley between 1901-1923. The tower on the right is part of the Wellington Town Hall. The Wellington Town Hall was constructed between 1901 and 1904 and the clock was installed in the tower in 1923 - hence the dating of this photograph at between 1901-1923. Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom left - S S Takapuna; Photographer's title on negative - bottom right - D J A The `Takapuna' was built in 1883. She was bought by the Union Steam Ship Co which sold her in 1924. She was dismantled in the Cook Strait in 1925. (Information from back of file print) Quantity: 1 b&w original negative(s).
