Description: Shows the buildings and powerhouses of the mine, along with parts of the mine face dug out of the background hills. On a ridge in the distance some dwellings are seen. The original for the wood engraving on page 12 of his "New Zealand graphic and descriptive" (London, 1877). "On the site of the Hauraki Pump & where the Munincipal Power Station is at present (1927). The tramway went down to Campbell Street, and round to the Battery, beyond Moanataieri Creek". See Weston, Frederick W. "Thames goldfields: Diamond jubilee souvenir 1867-1927", pages 51 and 79.
