You have your own daughters to consider.' Under the Imperial Preference scheme New Zealand's dairy produce should have had an advantage in the British marketplace, but the British consumers preferred to buy the Danish product. Extended Title - The comparative prices of Danish and New Zealand butter constitute an object lesson in Empire preference as it should not be. The advice to 'Buy British Goods' is not being practised in the land in which the slogan originated, for Danish butter is preferred at threepence a pound above New Zealand butter.
