Description: Poster advertising an exhibition at Auckland City Art Gallery, shows photographic portraits of three men: Robert Muldoon ("Piggy"), Sir John Kerr the Australian Governor-General ("Cur"), and Malcolm Fraser ("Prefect") The Library's copy has the words stamped twice: "This poster has been censored", and the words "Piggy", "Cur" and "Prefect" have been blacked out and are not readable. The letter (P) in brackets stands for "Provisional" (email from Chips Mackinolty, 18 March 2011) Information about the artist and the blacked-out words was retrieved from website http://www.printsandprintmaking.gov.au/catalogues/work/24789/chips-mack, on 22 May 2009. This shows that Chips Mackinolty and Terry Smith were the designers of the poster. An email from the artist Chips Mackinolty on 18 March 2011: "Printed and designed by me at Earthworks Poster Collective, Sydney University Art Workshop (Tin Sheds) in 1976 for the Art & Language group in Sydney". Mr Mackinolty reports that there was information about the censorship in the Auckland newspaper at the time. Quantity: 1 b&w art print(s) on poster.. Description: A flier issued to protest the imprisonment of activist Tim Shadbolt, who used the word "Bullshit!" during protests against the Vietnam War. Shows a half-length portrait of Tim Shadbolt. In an email of 3 August 2010 to the Ephemera Curator, Roger Fowler said: "Yes, I designed, laid out and published this item with an electronic stencil, & others printed it on the bookshop gestetner - very high tech in those days! I was the manager of the Resistance Book Shop in Queen St, Auckland at the time (probably 1970-71) ... I have tried, unsuccessfully, to identify the photographer for you".
