It has a verandah and a slab chimney A related watercolour by Hodgkins is in the Otago Settlers' Museum, 'The old Eldorado grog shanty on the Waipori Road' dated 1868 or 1869. The hotel, established by 1862, was on an isolated stretch of road between Waipori and Mahinerangi, Central Otago. It was used by goldminers heading to Gabriel's Gully and back to Dunedin. It was held up by robbers in 1863, when in the ownership of Archibald and Joan Walker. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - WMH Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
