This view shows where Captain Cook first landed in the Bay of Islands on 30 Nov 1769 - . It is assumed so because it was the nearest beach to the ship - . There is a cave in the point to the right - . This would tally with where some of the natives hid themselves. See Wharton's Cook p 166.
