Description: Shows a bush clearing with a tree fern at the left, and a raised wooden storehouse on the right, partly obscured by surrounding vegetation. There is a fallen branch in the right foreground and a section of fence visible in the left background. A tall tree in the centre background has epiphytes growing on it. Hawkshead was the home of William Swainson, in Lower Hutt, built about 1845. The storehouse may have been sketched in 1843 before the house was built, and then the drawing finished in 1854.
