Description: Map of the area from Kawiti's Pa at Ruapekapeka to Pahia, including the Bay of Islands, to Cape Brett and the coastline south of Wangarura Harbour. Inked lines identify the routes taken by the combined forces in December 1845, including descriptions of the terrain and dates of their advancement. Physical features such as rivers, rocks and bays are named. Stockades and Pa sites are marked, as well as two routes taken by the combined forces which includes notes about the terrain. Description: Hand-drawn map which shows topographic features, vegetation and the boundary of Reserve 2652. Shows the land to the south of the reserve to the Tasman River. Pencil note on map says 'T N Brodrick?'. Lettering on map is not the same as other maps by Brodrick. Phillip Temple believes that the map was drawn by Wright based on a letter by Wright to J H Baker, Canterbuy Chief Surveyor, in 1884 in which he refers to the features, names and numbers shown on the map and recommending that the area be put under reserve. The reserve was created in 1885. Description: Map of Akitio station from the coast includes the Akitio River to the Puketoi range to the boundary between the Wellington and Hawkes Bay districts. Donald Mclean's land is divided into two areas, one marked 'purchased land' and the second shaded area 'estimated contents ac. 10.000'. Two pencilled notes refer to the estimated acreage of the shaded area as 8,500 rather than 10,000 acres. Rivers, settlements, cities and towns are named, as are coastal features such as bays, capes, points, heads, rocks, sounds, inlets. Principal lighthouses are marked. Lit lighthouses are also recorded. Points of shipwrecks are marked with the name and type of ship, the date of shipwreck and lives lost. Insets include lists of shipwrecks with references to places and points of shipwreck. Dates range from September 1795 - 2 March 1936. Description: Cadastral map of the entrance of Kaipara Harbour, from the Waionui Inlet, Papakanui Spit, South Head down to Mairetahi. Several placenames are given along the eastern coastline, Kawau, Pararaha, Waipiro, Haratai, Te Pua, Waioneke, Onumotu, Taumata, Karukanihui. Four areas are highlighted and their acreage given: Okaka (1851), Whiritoa (1558), Waioneke (5500), and Mairetahi (6300). A note refers to an old peg in fence (Climie) opposite Clapham's Hotel. Topographic features are described and include details of a hill and edge of a cliff. The Wellington & Napier Railway line is named. The second surveying map in the top right corner is of section 8 and includes the site of a peg in fence opposite the Clapham Hotel. A pencilled note refers to the Ngauranga Hotel which has been overwritten with the name of Clapham's Hotel. An area of Native Reserve and the site of the Main Road are marked. Includes the name I. H. Description: Hand drawn survey map of the railway line and adjoining land from Te Aute station, now known as Opapa, south to Pukehou, a small settlement past the railway crossing to Patangata, a distance of 33 miles. Place names were current at the time of the survey, but some have since changed. Te Mata Survey District, Maraekakaho Survey District and Waipukurau Survey District are written prominently across their respective sections, as are Pukerowhitu Block, Pukekura West Block, Piharoa Block, Poupoutahi Block, Otu Koto Rewhero Block, Roto a Tara Block, Native Land and Te Aute College Land. The counties of Hawke's Bay and Waipawa are named with an indication of the county boundary. Henry Russell's name as a land owner, appears on either side of the railway line, once linked with 'natives'. Three roads, which are named, are the Main Road South, the Main South Road to Te Aute and the road from Patangata. Includes swamps and the lake, Roto a Kiwa, which is possibly the one referred to in the note as having been drained. 2 maps accompanied by 1 photocopied sheet with the following notes:- Henry Russells's land shown as part of railway below Rota a Kiwa.
