Description: Two images occupying a double page spread. On the left is a view along the coastline with houses on the flat land near the shore, bush and a large cabbage tree on the right. Mr Newmans, W. Spain Esq., The Bastion, Signal Mt. of Auckland Harbour and North Shore are identified. The men's names are associated with two houses shown in the foreground, 'The bastion' is Bastion Rock at the foot of a headland in the middle distance and Signal Mount is Mount Victoria, on the North Shore. On the right, occupying two thirds of the right-hand page is 'Harbour Shore', with four Maori seated with three dogs beneath a large pohutukawa tree, probably close to Auckland Harbour Quantity: 2 drawing(s).
