Description: The scene is the interior of a church with a marriage service about to begin. The groom whispers into the vicar's ear that he hopes he can 'whip through this bit mate' because he wants to watch a rugby match between the Springboks and the All Blacks. All the men nearby are looking very pleased, but the women less so. Notes accompanying the cartoon in 'Having a ball' read 'It is not uncommon for calendars to be checked before dates are set for weddings, engagement parties and other important occasions to make sure they are not competing with equally important rugby test matches'. Description: Shows a mock-advertisement for the 'Mayoralty Melee' in which 'Bob "Posie" Parker' is seen in a boxing ring fighting 'Jim "Lefty" Anderton'. Parker wears a floral outfit and conspicuously displays a large amount of money, labelled 'CCC funds' from his back pocket. Anderton, meanwhile, wears a dressing gown and slippers, and is attended by his cat. Refers to the news that MP Jim Anderton, leader of the Progressive Party, was intending to stand for the Christchurch mayoralty against then-incumbent Bob Parker. The images also include photographs of transitional spaces and temporary art installations around the central city, including projects by GapFiller and Greening The Rubble, and the NZ Ice Fest, and art works by Sara Hughes, Chris Heaphy, Neil Dawson, Julia Morison, and Lonnie Hutchinson.
