There are three separate references; the Israeli settler refers to the start of building by Israelis on the Left Bank as the moratorium on building ends, the Delhi Games labourer is one of those thousands who made superhuman efforts to have the village ready in time for the opening of the 2010 Commonwealth Games' opening on 3rd October and the Dunedin Stadium chippie worked on the stadium to be ready for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, controversial because of the extra costs to Dunedin ratepayers in tough economic times. He tells Uncle Sam that they are uncertain whether it is a new world or a black hole.
