The history of northern Hawke's Bay begins before Maori arrived, covers the Maori history of the area, tells of the arrival of Europeans, the missioanries, settlement and farming, establishment of local government business and services, looks at the contemporary position of Maori in the area, tourism, schools and other aspects.
