Description: Photographs of Children, Family groups which include Frank, Archie, Hugh, and Jack Nelson, Jack and Frank's houses at Pori and two views of the drive to Jack's house, native forest and an early morning view of the Forty Mile Bush. One group photographs taken in England in about 1885. There are also two letters from Catherine M Nelson written from Pori in 1902, and an envelope containing pressed plant matter. Contents of an album and postcards of Auckland

Description: Government troops at Parihaka in 1881. Gudgeon with a group of European men and women on the verandah of Queen Makea's house in Avarua, Rarotonga. King Koroki's funeral in May 1966. Edith Tuke and her Napier house in the 1890s. A man on hoseback at "Wairoro." Soldiers with a field gun. A memorial cross. Two children ca 1905. A sheet of 8 postcards relating to Auckland Other material includes short typed notes relating to Gudgeon; a letter to Beryl Gudgeon from the Auckland Museum dated 1936; an obituary for Mr C R Howden; information relating to Arthur Tuke's career dated 1876. Except for the Auckland postcards, the material in this collection was contained in an album entitled "Gudgeon 1965-1920." This album judging from the captions which were on each page, contained photographs relating to Gudgeon's life. By the time the album reached the Turnbull Library, these photographs had gone and it was filled with an assortment of items, none of which related to the captions on the plastic pages. Description: Album of photographs of early Wellington, circa 1880s to 1900s. One view shows the wreck of the "Oliver Lang" at Kaiwharawhara. Other views of the harbour show sailing ships, the SS Doric at Queens Wharf, the arrival of the RMS Aorangi, the small ship Manawatu in port, and the Cobar ferry. Away from the inner city and harbour there are three views of native bush with a stream running through, and one of the house under construction. The album is not full, with photographs only found on pages 8-15, and 19-21. The view of the Union Bank of Australia on the corner of Featherston Street and Lambton Quay shows Johnny Martin's fountain in the foreground. There are several views of inner Wellington, some from Bolton Street, with others showing Government House and Offices. The Chief Post Office is seen behind the wharf where the ship Manawatu is moored (p 14) This is the first of two albums which may have been given to the Misses Yamerton as birthday gifts at the same time, both having the same birthday greeting card, and both having a similar collection of photographs, though not all are the same.
