Description: Shows area of land bounded by London, Ingestre streets and Victoria Avenue, Wanganui. Gives sections and section numbers (in most cases) in this area. Has an area marked as 'proposed new grounds for boy's college' with acreage. Next to this, is a block with a note: 'about 44 acres let on short grazing leases'. Another block has 'about 61 acreas let on grazing leases expiring 1909' written on it. One section near Victoria Avenue and Plymouth St is marked 'Mr Watson's house' and an adjacent section has 'garden' written on it. The Wanganui Aramoho railway is indicated. Other streets shown are Hatrick, Purnell, Wilson, Nixon, St Hill, Glasgow, Liverpool and Dublin. There is some pencil annotation on the map one of which is 'Mr W E Atkinson's school'. Description: Head and shoulders frontal portrait of Major Kemp in uniform. He is shown with a full beard, and the New Zealand War Medal suspended from his jacket. Appears to be based on a studio photograph of Te Rangihiwinui, in about 1876, the year he received the New Zealand War Medal. See PA2-2562. Dittmer arrived in New Zealand in 1898, the year of Te Rangihiwinui's death. Description: Photographs probably taken by George William Barltrop, circa 1890s-1900s. Most of the scenes are taken on a river boat trip up the Whanganui River, and include two of groups of Maori; one showing two nuns in full habit, walking behind three young Maori girls who are wearing ankle-length dresses. Some of the river scenes show stretches of the river, including several `on the rapids', and one of a group of men in a waka. Others are of the various villages passed on the trip, including one of the river boat tied up at Jerusalem, with a cart drawn by two horses alongside. One view shows the mouth of the Whanganui River at Patea, and from there the images are of the New Plymouth area, including Mount Taranaki (then Mount Egmont), the Sugar Loaves, the monument to Wiremu Tamati on the hill at Corbett Park (Oakura), and Opunake. Description: Photographs relating to St John's Presbyterian Church in Wellington. They include views of St Paul's Presbyterian Church in Christchurch in 1898 and in 1901 when there were combined encampments held in Christchurch, involving Young Men's Bible Classes of the two churches. Many of the photographers are identified (names listed above). One photograph shows Dr John Elmslie of St Paul's Church, standing at the pulpit which is decorated with flowers, with the word "Mizpah" picked out in white. Several images show Dixon Street houses above St John's Church (p 09), and "fallen houses" (p 25) Another group of images show triumphal arches celebrating the arrival in Wellington of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in 1901.
