Description: Published by McLeod & Slade, Printers, New Plymouth, 1936, as a souvenir of the Maui Pomare Meeting at Manukorihi Pa, Waitara, 27 June, 1936. Also comprises correspondence and clippings. The correspondence consists of a letter from Isolda, Elsa, and Tristan, which includes a musical stave with the words and notation for the waiata 'Hoki hoki tonu mai te wairua o te tau', which is dated Dec 1911. Also a letter from Apirana Ngata, dated 20 May 1940, acknowledging James Cowan's message of condolence relating to the death of 'Bal' who was buried at Maraetaha, in Muriwai. This relates to Te Raumoa Balneavis, who worked closely with politician, Apirana Ngata. The clippings mainly relate to Maui Pomare, and to Taranaki Māori history. There is also a translation of a waiata relating to Taranaki. Includes many annotations by Cowan, and a signed message from Miria Woodbine Pomare. Also the inside cover is signed 'J. Cowan'.
