Description: Correspondence, drafts, and clippings. Includes a letter from K Clark of Waitewhenua, Ohura, dated 1939, which relates to a pole found in the Matapuna River near Taumarunui. The pole had Māori carvings at one end. In the letter Clark refers to a sketch which was sent with the letter, and a pencil sketch is also in this folder, but had been separated from this letter. It is likely to be the same sketch. Also includes a letter from Jessie McNiven to James Cowan, dated 16 June 1936, relating to her thesis on 'Mission Stations on the Whanganui River' and Whanganui Māori settlements.
