Description: Invitation shows four vignettes (of Wellington Harbour, Lyttelton Harbour, Auckland Harbour, and Port Chalmers Harbour), inset portraits of Their Majesties, and figures of a European soldier and a Maori chief. The British crest is at top centre. Two copies of this work at this reference number. Each differs slightly, one having been printed with slightly larger, heavier dots of colour, giving a darker overall effect (easily studied through a strong magnifying glass). Description: Certificate shows an arrangement of text, with a dove of peace at the top, and two seated angels flanking the Holy Bible at the bottom. At the sides are New Zealand scenes: Maori beside a lake with tree fern at the left, and at right a church and cabbage tree in front of a snowy mountain, possibly Mt Taranaki. Denomination may be Presbyterian or Methodist. Other certificates awarded to Mary McKenzie include some from the New Zealand Methodist Sunday School Union, but there is also published evidence that the Otago Sunday School Union may have been linked to the Presbyterian Church.
