Description: The cartoon shows Prime Minister Norman Kirk as the referee in a rugby match. He has just ordered a Springbok player off the field. An All Black player is arguing the case. Two people, representing anti-tour disruption, are looking very menacing and look prepared for violence had the game continued. In the background a man representing the Commonwealth games is jumping for joy. In the foreground a man representing the N.Z.R.F.U. and a man representing New Zealand look unhappy. Refers to the Prime Minister Norman Kirk's decision to cancel the 1973 Springbok tour. Exhibited in 'Guts and Glory' an exhibition of rugby cartoons, organised by the New Zealand Cartoon Archive Trust in association with the Alexander Turnbull Library, National Library of New Zealand, at the National Library Gallery, 15 July - 7 November 1999, and then touring until 2001.
