Description: Topographic map of the Rimutaka Ranges, immediately north of Featherston southwards to Baring Head, Wellington Region. Names rivers, streams, creeks, roads, the Petone to Featherston railway line, mountains, trig points, foot tracks, ridges, cliffs, bluffs, Lake Oneke and Lake Wairarapa, Martinborough and Featherston. Has grid pattern marked in yards. Acc. 37209 has watercolour annotations (blue for water, green for bush and brown for roads). Acc. 12718 has text (pencil) annotations, (and no watercolour annotations), on top left and in the middle of the map (difficult to decipher). Description: Photographs relate to the Hermitage Hotel, and mountains, glaciers and river vallies in the Aoraki/Mount Cook area. The mountain landscape is part of most of the photographs which focus on skiers, singly and in groups, and some in action. Also tramping/climbing groups and tour groups associated with the buses of Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company Ltd. There are group photographs of people gathered in front of the Hermitage Hotel, and groups taken outside a two storied corruagated iron lodge built on a mountain side. Subject details within the collection include - A large buldozer that at one point gets stuck in a river. Men snow ball fighting. People standing in water surrounded by floating ice. An American 1938 model Ford De Lux Sedan. A young woman ice skating. People riding rafts made from 40 gallon drums. Groups with sledges. What looks like Public Works Department camps. This photograph was taken from a ridge above the point looking south west in the direction of Omarama.
