There are also some scenic views of rivers and landscape, and one photograph of bee keepers at work on hives. Albert Lyndsay McKenzie, the father of the donor, was born in Christchurch. Trip to Nelson, Picton, and the Sounds. This included a trip on the ship, Blenheim, on Pelorus and Queen Charlotte sounds, with a stop off at Havelock. General views of Nelson, and specifically Trafalgar Street from below the Cathedral. Bridge in Queens Gardens. Bridge over the Maitai River. A stop at Wangamoa on a motor trip from Nelson to Blenheim. Views of Picton and harbour. SS Admiral taking people on a picnic, Picton. Picton Waterworks. Train leaving Picton. Cadillac motor car abandoned after the engine caught fire for the second time. A race between two men in shells, one of whom was the New Zealand Champion single sculler, Darcy Hadfield. In three cases these are signed E N Webster, who advises that he arrived in Wellington 5 February 1918, and left 15 June 1922. During this period, as well as photographing Wellington and district, he travelled on holiday to New Zealand cities and tourist destinations. The photographs were taken between 1919 and 1921 judging from the prints that have dates. His second name was Norman, and this is the name he used to sign letters on postcards sent from Christchurch in 1919 to his mother, and a friend called May. There is also a note attached to an illustration of Ben Lomond in the collection on which he signs himself Norman Webster. In formation on the back of postcards indicate that he came from Australia, and in 1916 lived at Nambour, Queensland. Quantity: 148 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This group includes both slides Mr Williams took himself, and slides he purchased. The last slide showing the Lindis Pass was taken by Neville Hatwell. This sheet shows parts of Christchurch including the Cathedral, Cathedral Square, the Avon River and the statue of Robert Falcon Scott; the Rakaia River; a signpost on the road to Mount Cook; Lake Pukaki; Mount Sefton from the road; the Hermitage hotel; views of Mount Cook from the Hermitage; a group of people looking up the glaciers in the Tasman valley; a mountain daisy and a Mount Cook lily; and the Lindis Pass. The slides are not in his original numerical sequence, and are selected by subject relating to particular talks. Arrangement: These slides were selected by Mr Williams from his original sequence to create a representative collection of New Zealand images which he used in illustrated lectures on his return to England. Description: Snapshots of family and friends associated with Ruby Victoria Jackson, taken by unidentified photographers. Many of the people shown are unidentified, or only identified with Christian names. Many of the images relate to sheep stations won by three Jackson brothers in the soldiers' ballot after the first World War, 1914-1918. They owned Netherwood (originally by a Johnson who married a Jackson), Te Arowhenua and Berridale in the Waihopai Valley; also Leatham and The Branch Station on the Branch River. Other sections of the album relate to holidays, including trips to the West Coast, and to the North Island. Several views of Wellington are night scenes. The funeral ceremonies for Miss Jackson's father, Walter James Jackson, are shown in a number of photographs; and the last sequence shows Chinese friends probably associated with Miss Jackson's links with the Chinese Anglican Mission; and the visit of Dr Toyohiko Kagawa to New Zealand in 1935.
