Description: Photographs taken by John Dobree Pascoe and others, in the Southern Alps, particularly Canterbury region. Most of the photographs are fully described, with names usually given with initials and surnames, or nicknames. Many of the people and places photographed are listed above. Description: Photograph album created by Neville H Mosen of Raetithi. Contains views related to trips taken by the Tongariro Tramping Club and views related to the Mosen family and friends. Taken by Neville Mosen circa 1936 to 1937, and possibly some taken by other unidentified photographer(s). Contains scenic views and views of the Club members on bush walks and skiing in Tongariro National Park, featuring Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and surrounding environs, the Pinnacles at Blue Bluffs, Ruapehu crater lake, Tama Lakes, The Chateau, Whakapapa glacier, Karioi Lakes, Mangawhero River and various tramping huts. Bruce Davis, an amateur photographer who lived in Raetihi is identified. Also includes views of Raetihi township and Horopito locality, Napier, Tauranga (rail bridge and The Strand), and Ngauruhoe erupting (possibly 1937 eruption). Also includes views of Tom Parker posing with the fountain he gifted to Napier in 1936 and scenes of a parade and bonfire in Raetihi to mark the coronation of King George VI in 1937. Also includes the wedding of Gwen Wise (circa 1930s) 5 loose prints have page numbers noted and are in an envelope at the front of the album. Description: The signature `May Moore' inside front cover, is possibly that of Mrs May Moore (daughter of Sir Joseph Kinsey), who travelled and mountaineered in the areas covered by the album. Album containing 21 scenes of the South Island. Of these, 12 were taken by photographers Muir and Moodie, between 1907 and 1913. The Muir and Moodie numbers for these views are 1810, 6743, 6752, 6780, and 6782 to 6789. The photographer for the other nine images is not identified. 24 leaves are blank. Several of the Muir and Moodie views were taken on 1st January 1913, a number of which show various stages of a group crossing the Haast Pass on horseback. Description: Map showing the location of Middle King bivouac, below South King and Middle King, and above Mitre Flats, on the Wairarapa side of Tararua Ranges. Includes instructions for approaching the bivouac from Middle King peak and from below from Baldy Creek-South Mitre Stream. The Mitre Flats hut, Waingawa River and a new footbridge are marked, as are tracks (marked and unmarked), spurs, creeks, the bivouac forest, and Mt Baldy.
