Description: A cadastral base map, updated 1 May 1939, of the Hutt Industrial Estate, adjacent to the Waiwhetu River and converging with the Hutt River, has been used to detail sections sold to the New Zealand Government. Some acreages and boundaries have changed. The industrial sections, numbered with acreages, are adjacent to Bell, Gracefield, Park and Seaview Roads, with the railway line running through the centre of the industrial area. Names include Grant and Co., Wellington Concrete, Schweppes Ltd., P. J. Pullan, E. S. W. Paul, Millans West Australian Hardwoods Ltd. sold to Cable & Co., Winstones Roofing Tile Works Ltd., W. Cable & Co. Ltd., Acetone Illuminating & Welding Coy. Ltd., Wellington Concrete Pipe Coy., Ford Motor Co. of N.Z. Ltd., Hume Pipe Coy., Vaccuum Oil Coy., Texas Oil Coy., British Australian Lead Manufacturers Ltd., Suburban Properties Ltd. A railway easement and reserve are marked as are Railway Workshops. Includes drainage easements, sewers, septic tanks, pumping stations and watermains, some of which are referred to in a key. Areas of Crown Land, Hutt Park, the Trotting Club, a cemetery and the Waiwhetu Pa are named. Residential properties include the names of C. H. Morley and W. A. Cairns.
