Description: The cartoon shows a small island, New Zealand, with a small pipe reading, Motunui, dripping small amounts of pollution into the sea. Looking over their shoulders the New Zealanders notice a Frenchman from another island waving and saying hello. He is standing next to a pipe that reads, Mururoa, which is pouring huge amounts of pollution into the sea. The New Zealander's look shocked. Description: Pamphlet issued ahead of the Convention on International Relations in Auckland (on 7-13 September 1954). The front cover shows a photograph of a mushroom cloud over a Pacific setting with palm trees. Inside is a report of a determination by churchmen to hold a convention "to promote international understanding and a worldwide allegiance to the purpose of the Charter of the United Nations". The hope was to reduce and control armaments and meet the challenge of nuclear energy. Urges readers to publicise the event, give financial support and send delegates to the convention. The electricity reforms continue to cost the consumer more. The military invite refugees from Kosovo to return to their destroyed homes. Milosevic is prepared to destroy Kosovo in order to save it. Shows India testing a long-range nuclear missile off the back of a cow. Shows Nato commander explaining their strategy of punishing Milosevic by bombing Serbia. This resulted in mass destruction of property and life but no direct harm to Milosevic. New Zealand yachties receive large slaries but are not prepared to pay for weather data from Government Agencies. Serbs use human shields to protect their forward tank movement. Following sex scandals, the Scouts tighten up their screening of adult supervisors. Helen Clark and Jenny Shipley fight over their respective attributes. They agree that women bring poise to politics even in an arguement. Max Bradford gets the country into trouble over electricity reforms. Minister of Tourism, Murray McCully, objects but does not intervene in large, secret and tax-free payouts to directors he forced to resign. Comment on Anzac Day commemorations. Comment on Tau Henare's behaviour of holding onto his Cabinet position when his party, NZ First, pulled out of the National coalition government. Description: Prime Minister Norman Kirk stands on a wharf playing 'Now is the Hour' on a tuba as the ship HMNZS Otago departs, flying the New Zealand flag. The Labour government, elected the previous year, sent the frigate H.M.N.Z.S Otago to Mururoa Atoll to protest against the nuclear testing being done there by the French government.
