Description: A play on a short piece taken from a Christchurch newspaper, which reads: 'Christchurch, no one is going to nobble six Australian competitors in this month's national frog jumping contest - the organisers have arranged for an armed security guard.' The cartoon exaggerates this idea to the point where, in the last frame, a horse truck pulls up to the jumping contest, filled with seven armed security guards. Description: The recto shows number four in 'Our weekly competition' series, where readers were invited to guess the identity of a personality from a drawing of them; this drawing is of L Blake, Esq. On the verso, a drawing of Ethel De Costa (nee Benjamin), New Zealand's first woman lawyer, who had in December 1906 moved to Christchurch temporarily, to take over a large restaurant, The Cherry Tea Rooms, in the New Zealand International Exhibition. The scene is set in the tea rooms, with Miss Benjamin in full barrister attire, adjusting her hair before putting on her wig The full identity of L Blake, Esq is not certain.
