Description: Photograph of D Picot and Co's Victor Carrying Truck outside the firm's shop in Karori, Wellington. The name of the firm is painted clearly on the truck and the building. D Picot owned one of the first motorised trucks in Karori and one of the first trucks to be used in business replacing horses and carts. The driver employed by D Picot at this time was Bert Dyer. According to Derek French north shaft was also called \"Pro\" which was short for \"Prohibition.\" This was an electrically driven plant which was commissioned in April 1936 and operated until July 1951. Shaft below headframe at left was reputedly New Zealand's deepest, plumbed 879 metres to a point approximately 300m below sea level.
