The handwritten message on the verso is addressed to Miss Muir, Kia Ora Private Hotel, Rotorua, and says: "Dear Jill, Your ever welcome PC came to hand last night. So sorry you did not call again; I'll have to be content seeing you once. Didn't it rain the day I intended going out, I drove out to Hastings the week after, it's a lovely drive. You are coming out [-] fancy you going to the Ball. I think you best look out that boy of yours might lead you astray. Pleased your [sic] having a good time.
