Description: The papers relate to Mitchell's activity in the Communist Party, Socialist Unity Party, various trade unions and in industrial disputes such as the 1951 waterfront strike. Tapes of interviews with Mitchell by Doug Crosado have been transferred to the Oral History Centre. Nearly all papers relating to Mitchell's involvement with local politics in Freemans Bay, Auckland, have been deposited with the Auckland Institute and Museum.
