Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working. Description: Album of photographs, moslty of family and friends, chiefly taken by Rhoda McWhannell. Family and friends include a gathering at the christening of Malcolm McWhannell (son of Joan and John McWhannell), Bill and Kathleen Haines of `The Croft', Wiltshire, England; Elizabeth and Jane Geddis as teenagers; John McIlrea, a very young boy watching shearing; Mike and Jill Carter; and the home of Mrs Mavis Commons. Scenes relating to `Rozel', the farm owned by Frederick and Rhoda McWhannell, include the felling of a huge aspen poplar in 1963, and working with Mr Gerlach, with a trailer filled with bamboo. Description: Photographs relating to Anders Hansen. These include a trip to the Auckland Islands on the Government steamer,`Hinemoa' in 1925. Mrs Hamiora's house in Taupo photographed in 1974. Maori artifacts collected by Anders Hansen's family when he was lighthouse keeper at Little Papanui Inlet from 1916 to 1919. In 2005 the Maori artifacts were sold to the Otago Museum where they now form the Anders/Tiller Collection. Description: Photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber, chiefly between 1934 and 1947, but including copies of some of his earlier photographs. Views include trips in the North and South Islands, and views of his home and family, especially in Whiteman's Valley Road and the area around Silverstream. Also various scenes of floods (Hutt River), and storm damage. Photographs associated with roads and railways include steam locomotives, tunnels, bridges and viaducts, some under construction. Among the trip photographs are views of Ngaruawahia, including King Koroki's house (opened in 1938) and the Maori Parliament House. Description: The first 19 slides are untitled but show mycorrhiza (fungi) on douglas fir roots; the trunk of a "rusty gum", kowhai seeds; bark of several trees including eucalyptus sideroxylon and an oak tree; one jacaranda bloom and jacarnda foliage; hellebore corsicus; hosta leaves; a Judas tree; eucalyptus micocorys; bunya pine tree; twisted maple trunk; Friesian heifers; a eucalyptus maculosa; and wych elm blossom.
