Maori artifacts collected by Anders Hansen's family when he was lighthouse keeper at Little Papanui Inlet from 1916 to 1919. In 2005 the Maori artifacts were sold to the Otago Museum where they now form the Anders/Tiller Collection. Images include: -a view of Ian Wedde and another man reading sheets in a garden setting [probably taken circa 1970]. -a snapshot taken from behind a man with long hair and glasses in an armchair cradling a baby -three colour photographs of artworks by Christine Hellyar. Inscribed by Hellyar on the reverse with titles of the works and the exhibition venue and date. Relates to the exhibition 'Cook's Garden' by Hellyar at Sarjeant Gallery 2005-2006, and the exhibition 'Hodges Waterfalls' and 'Banks' Handkerchiefs' held at Hocken Art Gallery and Campbell Grant Galleries in 2005. Accompanied by annotated envelope and photocopies of sketches of the exhibition layout. -three black and white photographs of unidentified stage performances, probably taken circa 1970-1979 for publicity purposes. Description: Photographs relating to Christine Cole Catley's family and home life, and the construction of her and husband Douglas Catley's house in Whatamango Bay. The images were taken at various times between 1958 and the 2000s by unknown photographers, Liz Brooks and Nick Duggan. Includes 1958 image of Christine's son Martin dressed as Santa Claus, with her father Allan Bull in the background. Also photographs of Bull at other social events and on outings. Several images show Douglas Catley's yacht Pelagian, including him steering, Christine and Douglas emerging from a hatch, and the boat moored in Whatamango Bay. A series of images show the construction of the Catley's house in Whatamango Bay between 1971 and 1975, including: excavation of the site; foundations being laid; a crane positioning a beam; partly erected concrete block walls; workers resting; and Douglas posing in front of the site with a flower in his mouth. Another group of images shows the wedding of Christine's daughter Nicola to Gavin Scott, including formal group portraits and informal shots taken afterwards and at the reception. Also series of photographs possibly taken for `Thursday' magazine, showing Catley inside and outside her home at 94 Bolton Street (Wellington) and at Clyde Quay Marina. Another series consists of portraits of Douglas Catley at Whatamango Bay and on the Pelagian in storm gear. Also images of the Catley's at home and socialising with guests, drinking, eating, singing and Douglas playing the violin. Two photographs show Florence Inkpen (mother of Christine's first husband John Reece Cole) with Gavin Scott and his daughter Becky. Description: Photographs of the North Island of New Zealand taken by Les Cleveland, 1957 to 2006. Information relating to the content as well as the date taken and the date printed, is on the rear of most prints. Includes photographs of buildings, mainly commercial premises, in Wellington and Wanganui, 1957-1959. Also contains images of two old farm cottages in the Wairarapa, a tree house in Paihiatua, a car yard in Petone, and a shop reusing ammunition boxes from World War II as a flowerbed in Palmerston North. A number of photographs from 2002 document the protest around the building of the inner city bypass in Wellington. These images feature Tonks Avenue, protestors, affected buildings, an individual who was to be being evicted, and protest art. Two 2006 mages show demolition on Kensington Lane. Images of people include two women drinking beer in Ohingaiti, a motorcycle family in Turangi, and young children climing on a wooden sculpture in Porirua. A series of Maori carvings in public spaces includes sculptures on the Petone Foreshore, in Te Rauparaha Park, Porirua, and Tokaanu. Includes images of jazz musicians and singers performing at the following New Zealand festivals: Bay of Islands Jazz Festival (1997-1998, 2000), Hamilton Traditional Jazz Festival (1992-1993), Manawatu Jazz Festival (1998-2001), National Jazz Festival (1992-1999, 2001), Rotorua Jazz Festival (1995-1996) and Whangarei Jazz Festival (1999, 2001). Also photographs of audiences, venues, band stands and festival banners. Also images related to the Huggard Trophy for Best First Year Performance Band. Includes photographs of the trophy and of it being awarded at the National Jazz Festival (1997). Also of the winners in 1997 (Northcross Intermediate) and 1999 (New Plymouth Boys' High School Stage Band). Other images show jazz musicians performing at Auckland jazz clubs and venues, including the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club, Gables Tavern and Cotton Club. Some photographs were taken at the funerals of three significant local jazz musicians, Vernon Clare (1998), Frank Gibson snr (1998), and Lyall Laurent (1999). Another set of images show the 1995 International Association of Jazz Record Collectors convention in Memphis, United States. Includes shots of panel discussions, meetings and the convention dinner. Several photographs show the Sound Museum in Foxton. The negative strips also contain images probably relating to the Huggard family, including of children, family gatherings and domestic interiors.
