Description: Two views of an Australian hotel. Two groups of pots. Potters at work, 1962 and 1965. Scenic views mostly taken in 1969 and 1970 in the upper South Island. These include coastal and beach scenes taken at Motueka, Pohara, Wainui Inlet, and Takaka. These photographs focus on the lights and textures of the New Zealand landscape with patterns made by water and wind on sand, and the weathered remains of dead trees. Other unidentified views are of mountains, falling water, herons perched in and flying above the branches of a tree, a bridge over a river. There is a photograph of pohutukawas in flower, supplejack fruit, and orange fungi. Quantity: 23 colour original transparency/ies.

Description: Jack Van Ginkel emigrated from Holland in 1951. Most of the slides record holidays taken by Jack and his wife in New Zealand and overseas from 1957 to 1968. There are also photographs of the Van Ginkel children, their home, probable relatives and friends from Holland, and the ADOS chemical factory, Petone where Jack Van Ginkel worked. The New Zealand holiday slides cover scenic views of the South and North Islands. The Van Ginkels obviously preferred camping and tramping holidays and there are a number of slides recording skiing trips to Mount Ruapehu. Overseas holidays included returns to Holland and visits to the United Kingdom, Greece and other parts of Europe, the United States, Central and South America and Australia.
