Description: Left half of a cartoon in two sheets; other half at B-156-130. At the left, two road workers frown as they look at the furrows gouged by trolley buses. At the right, workers at Rongotai Aerodrome discuss subdivision plans, in front of a hangar, with a rocket launch-pad in the background. Other Titles - \"One thing about trams, they used to break-up the roads just down the middle - these trolley buses do it all over\" Other Titles - \"I see that now that rockets don't need any runways they're going to sub-divide part of the 'drome into housing lots\" Date estimated as post Second World War. Description: Part of a surveyed, cadastral map of a subdivision in Linden, Tawa, showing Deposited Plan 9069 (transferred from 2054), named Tawa Extension no. 7. The subdivision runs between part of Old Porirua Road, Findlay and Handyside streets and the Wellington to Masterton railway, from Gee Street to Collins Ave. Includes road and section surveys, the latter numbered, with acreage. This copy includes only a part of the original map. It also shows part of a further segment, namely numbered surveyed sections 87 and 127-137, with acreage, bounded by the part of the railway and part of Collins Ave. Map includes notes regarding the subdivision and two signatures, a reference key regarding colour coding of roads (not visible on this copy), the number '56', and Certificate of Title numbers 170/24, 25. Also includes some pencil annotations on white section of map, indicating bearings. Includes part block numbers. Indicates part of the Porirua Stream. Other Titles - Tawa Flat (Linden) DP 2054 (transferred to DP 9069) see C[ertificate of] T[itle]'s 461/230 and 392/273. Includes blue ink annotation: L88 GB. Title from pencil annotation on map recto. Description: Five base maps of the Adelaide Road and King Street industrial area, Newtown, Wellington have been used to show the conversion of residential and multiple small industrial units to two industrial enterprises based there in 1950 approximately. Myrtle Crescent, Drummond and Hansen streets are named. Plan No. T.P. 111 - 4/68 shows the existing conditions of residential and industrial occupancy. A reference key details the number of residential units and persons. The industrial reference key lists street addresses, names of occupiers and volume of floor space. Occupants include slipper factory, plumber, bank agency, grocer, furniture factory, metal spinner, carrier's depot, ladies tailors. Also named is a section of vacant Crown Land and W.C.C. sub-station. Pencilled additions are of a reclamation area, Wellington City Council sections, Tramway Hotel, site of a new building, also the names Spincraft, East, Harte. Plan No. T.P. 112 - 4/69, Stage 1 of Development. Reference keys show numbers of families to be re-housed from residences to be demolished and premises required for industry which includes ownership statistics of Asiatics. Industries to be rehoused are listed as plumber, furniture factory, metal spinner, millinery, grocer, bank agency. Property to be acquired is also highlighted. Plan No. T.P. 113 - 4/70, Stage 2 of Development, shows the Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 5,500 square feet. The building line is marked. The route of King Street has been altered. Plan No. 114 - 4/71, Stage 3 of Development. The Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 55.500 square feet with building line is shown. Also the Incubator Factory site with its building line and site of a new building is prominently marked. Family units to be re-housed from residences to be demolished are referred to in a key. Plan No. 115 - 4/72, Stage 4 of Development. The Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 55,500 square feet, with building line is shown. The Incubator Factory site, approximate area of 41,400 square feet, with building line and site of a new building is marked.
