Description: A cadastral map of rural lands open for selection on lease in perpetuity, of the area from the Te Awaroa River to the Wai-inumia Stream, including the Kawhia-Alexandra Road. This base map has numbered sections, some have been coloured, and include acreages, owners' names and dates handwritten in each section. A small map, named Kawhia North S.D., mounted at the top left of the main map, is of sections 5 and 7 which are adjacent to the Awaroa River and one and a half miles to the Hauturu P.O. Includes one owners' name, acreage and a mounted cutting about section 5 and handwritten information including the poster number and date. A second cutting about section 3 is mounted on the bottom left of the main map and includes the relevant poster number and date. The map on the reverse has some sections outlined in red with a prominent note stating 'Superseded. See map on face'. The base maps are of sections in the Kawhia County. Auckland land district No. 753. A schedule of the second class land is referred to in a key. The map includes directions to the nearby settlement of Kawhia, and the vegetation and terrain are named. A schedule of second class land is referred to in a key and include the section number, acreage and rent. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow the with the printed name of James Mackenzie, Commissioner of Crown Lands. A statement on the left side of the map begins 'second class surveyed land, 3610 acres'. Includes the application date of 7th. September 1904 at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland. Description: Drawn on a published cadastral map of the Karewa Township, annotations highlight the native reserve sections in block 1 (14-20, 33-35, 2, 4) and block 2 (22-26, 37, 42-43, 65-66, 71-72, 77, 78, 90-91), sections not to be dealt with at present (block 1, 21-32), police reserve, school site, government buildings reserve, public hospital reserve, M.R., as well as unidentified sections highlighted in blue. The township is on the boundary of the Maketu block, the Kawhia 'M' and 'P' blocks and the Kawhia Harbour. A note on the police reserve reads 'Secs 45 & 46 . I ML 3263 granted to W. C. Scott'.
