Description: The left page addresses the recipient Maxwell Walker on the eve of his departure for a visit to Europe, and thanks him for his contribution to literary culture in Ponsonby, especially among young men. The address mentions his membership of the Committee of Management of the Leys Institute, and its affiliated Literary and Debating Society, and Shakespeare and Rhetoric Club. His position as lecturer in Modern languages at the Auckland University College is also mentioned. At the top of the left page is an illustration of the Leys Institute Library in Ponsonby Auckland, and a general view of Auckland Harbour with North Head and Rangitoto. Bothe pages have ornate borders. The address is signed by Thomson Leys of the Leys Institute, John Gittos and one other (Literary and Debating Society), and T H Wells, H Hemus, and E T Hart (Shakespeare and Rhetoric Club). Description: Flyer advertising a brand of tea shows an arrangement of text around an image of a three-masted sailing ship. The border is in red with a stylised botanical appearance. The verso has text advertising the pure quality of the tea. The three-masted yacht shown may be the "Sunbeam" on which Lady Annie Allnutt Brassey and her husband sailed in 1876-1877. She wrote a book about the voyage. This flyer was found with pages of the Ashburton Guardian. An advertisement for this brand of tea appeared in the Ashburton Guardian in 1902. Description: Postcard shows a view of Lake Rotorua from near Ohinemutu, with St Faith's Church at the far right. In the left foreground stands a group of Maori beside a raupo hut. In the right foreground the shore is steaming. There are waka and a steamship on the lake, with Mokoia Island in the background. The scene is bordered on three side by a grass fringe, and there are Maori tools and carvings at left and right. Verso shows an engraving by W R Bock, of Mt Earnslaw, head of Lake Wakatipu, with a Maori prow carving overarching it. Inscription on lower edge of recto: Meet me for certain tonight at His Majesty's to view the charms of the Country Girl. The postcard is addressed on the verso to Miss Mabel Drury, New North Road Auckland. Description: Poster with Maori pattern border shows illustrations of a Maori waka on Lake Taupo with Ngauruhoe smoking at the top, the small steam-sailing ship 'Tongariro' cruising on water at lower right, and inset views of the Karangahape Cliffs and the Waihi Waterfall at either side. The text explains that the mail steamer 'Tongariro' leaves Taupo every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the summer months, going to Tokaanu, and returning to Taupo the following day.
