Description: Photographic negatives of images from two rolls of film, taken by Judith Binney in 1999, chiefly of land and coastal areas on, and near, the former sites of Matakerepu Pa and Whakarae Pa, near Ohiwa Harbour. Also images of an exhibition held at Gisborne Army Hall. Also images of roadside graffiti reading "DOC is poisoning Te Urewera Ban Poison" Also images of murals at Taneatua (Whakatane district) by an unidentified artist. One features a peeling copy of a photograph taken in 1908 by George Bourne, showing the Levites (Riwaiti), Rua Kenana's teaching order. Underneath, partly exposed, is the Tuhoe flag. One features Rua Kenana riding the white horse of Te Kooti over the great plateau of Maungapohatu, carrying the flag of Maungapohatu confiscated by the police in 1916. Corresponding prints are at PAColl-9928-14. (Note: There are no corresponding prints for the 10 of the mural images at 35mm-100268 to 100270). Accompanying information - Paper packets that originally held prints and negatives, have a few descriptive notes by Binney and are held at PAColl-9928-14. Other - Negatives 35mm-100268-100270 were found amongst Binney's papers, after the set 35mm-99494-99505 had been described. 35mm-100268-100270 appear to belong with 35mm-99494-99505, and have been described with them.
