Description: Recto of postcard shows a laughing couple in bathing costumes running towards to viewer over the sand at a beach. The handwritten message on the verso is addressed to Miss Muir, Kia Ora Private Hotel, Rotorua, and says: "Dear Jill, Your ever welcome PC came to hand last night. So sorry you did not call again; I'll have to be content seeing you once. Didn't it rain the day I intended going out, I drove out to Hastings the week after, it's a lovely drive. You are coming out [-] fancy you going to the Ball. I think you best look out that boy of yours might lead you astray. Pleased your [sic] having a good time. Contains an advertisement for the Hawke's Bay Motor Company Ltd, and for the Government Tourist Bureau. Compiled by the Napier Thirty Thousand Club, and issued by the Napier Borough Council. Description: Pamphlet advertises the tourist attractions of Napier. The cover shows a photograph of a ceremony at the soundshell, and there are various photographs of scenes along the Marine Parade. A map shows the location of Napier on the North island of New Zealand, and there is a list of tourist bureaux and agencies throughout the country. Dated from a handwritten note on the cover. Annotations from the Thirty Thousand Club note the misspelling of "Te Mata", and the omission of roads on the map. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s). The front cover shows an illustration of a woman in a red bathing suit seated on the beach, below a photograph of the beachfront seen from above. Inside the woman reclines on the sand, reading, and there are many small photographs of holiday activities. Dated from statue of Pania (unveiled 1954), and from the advice of a researcher who obtained a copy of this brochure in 1956. Hand-typed note says: "Per Christmas air mail [...] Hastings - Palmerston Nth; Palmerston North - Auckland". The addressee is Master Chas W Watters, 29 Robert Street, Ellerslie, Auckland, NZ.
