Description: Two photographs of a Maori picnic at Pigeon Bush on the occasion of the settlement of the ownership of Lake Wairarapa. The first shows a large crowd of men, women and children with Seddon on the right in front of a two-storey wooden house. The second is of the crowd under the trees, one with a concertina, and three men holding up eels they had caught. A photograph of Members of Parliament in the debating chamber. The names given are: Symes, O'Maara, A L D Fraser, J Palmer, Hall, Field, Witheford, Wi Pere, Bennet, Kaihu, Duncan, MIlls, Ward, Cairncross, Stevens, Hogg, F M Smith, Carroll, McGowan and Hall-Jones. A photograph of the opening by Seddon of the Ballance Bridge described as "over Mangahau". It was taken by P De Loree & Son a photographer based in Pahiatua which may indicate the approximate location. The crowd in the foreground is mostly of children and the bridge has been decorated with plants. A photograph of Seddon, Mrs Hogg and Alexander Wilson Hogg opening a bridge. It is captioned at the bottom left "Mangainoka 4.3.1896" but this location has not been identified and the name on the reverse is illegible. Two photographs by Winzenberg of Seddon and others at a Liberal rally near Greytown and at a picnic possibly on the same occasion. Description: Album of photographs and newspaper cuttings relating to the Seddon family. Inserted at the front is an envelope full of newspaper cuttings, several relating to the marriage of Phoebe Seddon to Frank Dyer in January 1897, (with a photograph possibly of Phoebe); others relate to official activities undertaken by Richard John Seddon. In that envelope there are two other items of interest. One is an official Christmas card "With the Premier's compliments, wishing Miss Louie J S Seddon a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Wellington, New Zealand, December 1894" signed R J Seddon; and the other is an "Invitation to a presentation and social to the Hon. R J Seddon, Premier of New Zealand on his 51st birthday, June 22nd 1896" Many of the people shown in the photographs in the album are unidentified. There are several which appear to show members of Seddon's family, and which show his first home in Kumara, West Coast. Others relate to Seddon's supporters at Jacksons. Description: Group at the Official opening of the Cottage hospital, Otaki on 7 August 1899. Included from the left are; (wearing top hat) Frederick de Jersey Clere the architect (1856-1952). Beside him is Dudley Henry Alexander (1863-1931) ADC and Private Secretary to the Governor. Standing in front of Clere is Richard Clement Kirk (1863-1927) Mayor of Petone and Chairman of the Wellington Hospitable Board. Behind Aexander and wearing a bowler hat is Captain Henry Leah commander of HMS Mildura. Next to him is Miss Rochfort the Matron of the Cottage Hospital, and next to her is Frederick Wallis (1853-1928) Anglican Bishop of Wellington. The man standing at the back wearing a cloth cap is Thomas Young Duncan (1836-1914) Member of Parliament for Oamru. In front of him wearing a bowler hat is the Chairman of the Horowhenua County Council. The two men in the centre of the photograph are Richard John Seddon (1845-1906) the Prime Minister, and the Earl of Ranfurly (1856-1933) Governor of New Zealand. Behind the Governor is Dr James Malcolm Mason (1864-1924).
