Description: Reproduction of a pencil and watercolour painting by Bunney, produced for `Encounter with Eden', an exhibition of paintings and drawings from the Rex Nan Kivell Collection, National Library of Australia. One of a set of six greeting cards produced by the National Library of New Zealand featuring works of art from the exhibition. View of Lyttelton from Mount Pleasant appears to be a copy of an earlier ink drawing by Edmund Norman. There is no evidence that John Bunney, a middle-ranking English artist, ever visited New Zealand. It seems likely that his watercolours were commissioned by New Zealand colonising interests in London to encourage emigration, and the emphasis was therefore on well-developed, orderly and fertile settlements. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s). Physical Description: Photolithograph 85 x 133 mm on folded card
