Description: Photograph taken by David Alexander De Maus, of a painting by E B Hayward, depicting the SS Wairarapa, wrecked on Great Barrier Island, 29 October 1894. Date and location of the original painting are unknown. The photograph is in the form of a montage created by De Maus, with photographs of three stewardesses who died, a photograph of the monument erected by the stewardesses of the Union Steam Ship Company, and his own titles, inserted around the painting.
