Description: Map of topographical features, described rather than drawn, of the land surrounding the Wairoa river and Kaipara harbour, with soundings. Includes the Kipara [sic], Oropana, Matia, Wakani, Tapora, Oruwano Rivers and named creeks, all of which have notes about their navigability. Some mountains are named, notes refer to the types of land, types of trees are named. Includes extensive names and notes about Maori people, their settlements and conversion to christianity. Names of other land owners are recorded with some detail of historical events. Includes locations of Wesleyan Methodist stations. Some pencilled words are very faint, especially the name of the cartographer. Rev. Mr. Buller's property and journey referred to in some notes. Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Description: Cadastral map of Kororareka showing the original streets and alteration proposals of Mr Cass and the original boundaries of claims and of the lands granted under the Lands Claims Settlement Acts 1856-1858. Shows named streets, numbered lots, large blocks belonging to, for example Bishop Pompallier, the Church Missionary Society, Reverend C. Baker or the Kororareka Land Company, and individual sections along streets. Also shows Native blocks. Signed "A true copy of the original plan" by Andrew Sinclair, C.G.S., 17 Dec. 1863 Original was on long-term loan to Pompallier House, Russell 24/6/57. See correspondence on TL 1/14 Pompallier House. Description: Shows the bay with some houses, including the two-storied stone store to the right, the Mission house to its right and a fenced marae area to its left. Cattle graze at the left, and there is a sailboat in the bay. On the right are the Kerikeri Falls. On the left, on top of a hill, is the hakari, or stage erected for a feast, faintly visible against the sky.
