Description: Photographs of the following: a set of seven photographs by Collis and annotated by F P Corkill, land agent, re landholding around the Waiwhakaiho River; scenic views such as waterfalls, lakes, and the Pink and White Terraces; bridges with annotations re height etc; sixteen numbered photographs mounted two to a card of scenic views in the Taranaki Region, Rotorua and the far north (including ones of Taumaha Gorge, Taranaki and Lake Ora - location unidentified); a set of seven photographs of the Waipu Caves including Lot's wife, the anvil and the sugar loaf in Morrison's Cave; a clipping of St Paul's Cupola and a photograph of Kauri Gully, Northcote with annotations on resolutions passed re the establishment of reservations; a panorama in two photographs of Flagstaff Hill, Dunedin with annotations re a potential reserve; and two of a tramping party of three men and five boys resting at a waterfall. Description: Photographs of Kamo (Whangarei), Rodney County and Coromandel, taken, probably in the 1900s, by Daniel P Parker of Coromandel. Includes views of the construction on a timber dam (probably in Coromandel), Coromandel Public Hospital, Kennedy Bay (Coromandel), a stream crossing between Opitonui and Coromandel, bush camps in the Coromadel district and a traffic bridge in Rodney County. Daniel P Parker is recorded in the Wise's Post Office directories as an engineer in Coromandel from 1902 to 1930. Between 1906 and 1911 he is also recorded as a photographer. Most were taken by George Dobson Valentine, in the North Island of New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, and Tahiti; a few were taken by the Burton Brothers in the South Island. Within the New Zealand scenes there are a large number of views inside and out of the Waitomo Caves; and another group show the area around Lake Rotomahana with the Pink and White Terraces before and after the 1886 eruption of Mount Tarawera. Description: A view from Tuamarina Hill, looking south towards the Wither Hills and White Bluffs, with the Wairau Plain below. Spring Creek winds towards the sea in the foreground, and a large stand of bush is marked in with solid pencil in the middle distance On the verso is T. B. Collinson's pencil drawing [Tropical port with banana plantations] (A-292-092). This drawing relates to a privately-owned watercolour 'Part of Wairau, July 1845'. The watercolour shows the far hills at a greater distance and includes a section of 'Massacre hill' with two European men in the foreground. The details of the Wairau Plain are very similar in both works. The date on the watercolour is earlier than the date on this view but Bell possibly made a copy for T. B. Collinson, in whose sketchbook this drawing appears. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - title and date and attribution in ink in the hand of T. B. Collinson.
