Description: Shows a group of fisherman on a wharf where some small boats are tied up. One man sits with a black and white dog at his feet, and talks to a man standing beside two barrels full of fish. One of the barrels has the initials JM in large letters on the side. Some shallow baskets of fish with one or two fish in them, lie in the foreground. Further away on the right, a man hoses down the wharf, in front of a flagstaff with a blue and red flag flying. A red buoy floats in the left foreground, and there are some abandoned fishing rods on the wharf at the left. Some buildings at Port Chalmers are visible in the left background. Description: Album of photographs collected by Rev G E Mason on a trip around the world in 1885-1886. Comprises photographs of California, Tasmania, Sydney, Ceylon, Egypt and New Zealand. In 1884 the Bishop of Lichfield recieved a request from the bishops of Christchurch and Auckland, New Zealand, to send clergy to conduct missions in their dioceses. To this end he invited Rev G E Mason, and Rev Charles Bodington to do the job. The two clegymen left Liverpool for the United States on the 4th of July 1885, spent a summer in New Zealand, and returned to England in September 1886. Description: Family photographs of the William Hughes Field family, their home in Everton Terrace, Wellington, with views of Wellington and the harbour taken from various streets nearby. One group of images taken from Kelburn Park in February 1897 show the ship (with an escorting flotilla) in which Lord Glasgow was leaving New Zealand after his term as Governor of New Zealand. A few images show scenes in Christchurch. The yacht `Sunbeam' (privately owned by Lord Brassey) is shown in Wellington Harbour in a number of views. Several photographs shows areas on the outskirts of Wellington. Views fom Pukerua of the hills to the north and Kapiti Island; Otaihanga (with one of a Maori family at their home); Upper Hutt, showing Mr and Mrs Sarjeant's backyard, Mr and Mrs Barber's orchard, and two views of a farm owned by Mr [Martin?]; the coast at Island Bay, and fishermen and their huts at Island Bay.
