Description: Copy of a topographic map of the area in the Murimotu District from the Kaiiwi River and the Ohura River across to Lake Taupo, the Kaimanawa Ranges and the Rangitikei River. Cut road lines, proposed lines and native tracks are referred to in a reference key. Some tracks are routes proposed by Mr. Hogg and Mr. Booth, also an old war track described by natives is marked. Plantations, mountain peaks, rivers and streams are named. Relief features are described. Major Marshall's and Birch's Station are marked. Handwritten note on bottom right of map: The lake and mountains are from Hochstetter's map corrected by the Auckland Trig Survey: the Wanganui River from Brewer's survey, and the Upper Turakina and Rangitikei from Swainson's map corrected by Monro's survey. Description: Collection comprises: Photograph of road works in Ghuznee Street, Wellington, ca 1950s, by Pacific Photos, Courtney Place, Wellington. 3 photographs of Seaview, taken from the top of the Wainuiomata Hill in 1950 by Wal Richardson. Album leaf with 5 photographs of Wellington, ca 1860s-1900s, including preparations for visit of Duke of Edinburgh to Wellington, wedding of Ted and Amy Yates, portrait of a woman, Te Aroha Bathhouse and fire damage in Lambton Quay. Duke of Edinburgh visited New Zealand in 1869. Cadman Bathhouse opened in 1898. Quantity: 4 b&w original photographic print(s). 1 album leaf with 5 b&w original photographic prints. Provenance: Donated by Wainuiomata Historical Society, October 2002, through Mrs Vicky Alexander. The photographs were given to the society by the late Mrs Claire Burdan, whose husband was descended from Richard & Mary Prouse, and from the Dixon family, of the Dixon aerated water business. The photographs appear to have come from these families.

Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working. Description: Manuscript map from Tauranga Harbour, showing Greerton, south along the Waimapu Stream, south to Otane Wainuku, showing road (or track) from Noawato to Te Puke, and from the harbour to Te Puke, from Tauranga through Greerton and south to Noawato and onwards towards Rotorua and a road or track that extends from Greerton and runs parallel to the Waimapu Stream. Also depicts a forest reserve, heavy rimu area, and suggested tramway route from the route in Whakamapama north to the stream. Standing in the centre behind the barrow, wearing a top hat, is Rewi Maniapoto. Immediately to his left is his daughter, Te Kore. To her left and behind is Sir Robert Stout. The tall man wearing a top hat, standing to the left of Stout, is Wahanui Huatare. The original photograph was taken by Daniel Manders Beere; this image is a copy negative made by Albert Percy Godber from a print of the Beere original, file in Godber Album Vol. 102, p 45 (PA1-f-025).
