Description: Comprises papers relating to Buck's career as a surveyor mostly based in Lower Hutt and Wellington and including correspondence, surveying notes, many traverses sheets and related papers. Also includes some letters in Maori, from Moeraki and Otaki, from persons concerned about wrongly sent and received accounts. Also includes five letters in Maori (Kai Tahu dialect) (1) informing the receiver of the arrival of a carpenter's bill, and the writer's intent to pursue the matter with a lawyer; (2) expressing concern about the management and use of land at Otaki; (3) details a court case involving stolen money.
