Description: Postcards, chiefly of Australia, including Tasmania, Adelaide, Queensland, New South Wales, with several showing various tin mines in Tasmania. There is a section of New Zealand postcards in the middle of the album, many taken by an Australian photographic company "Charles H Kerry & Co", labelled "Series 53. Hot Lakes District, New Zealand". These images are tinted, and include views of the Huka Falls, the Pink and White Terraces, Waiotapu, Ohinemutu, Whakarewarewa, Lakes Waikaremoana and Taupo, and the Aratiatia Rapids. The NZ images also include views of the Mount Cook region of the South Island, including Franz Josef Glacier, Hooker Glacier, Mounts Darwin, Sefton and Cook, and Lakes Te Anau and Wakatipu. Iorns album

Description: A pocket inside the front cover of this album contains 23 loose photographs of landscapes in New Zealand, many of them Government Publicity Photos. In the South Island various views show Milford and the Milford Track, Tasman Glacier, Mount Cook, and the Buller Gorge. In the North Island there are several views of a group of fallow deer near Featherston; two of geysers at Whakarewarewa; and two of caves in the Waitomo Cave system, showing the underground river in the Aranui Cave, and stalactites in the Ruakuri cave. The main body of the album contains older photographs, circa 1890s, of townscapes in the Wairarapa. Two scenes show groups of Maori performers, one of a posed group of men and women, some holding taiaha and mere; the other of a group of young girls dancing on a podium. The photographs are separated into 10 sequences: 1: From Bismarck Peak (nos. 1-6). 2: From Spenser [i.e. Mount Spencer] (nos. 7-13). 3: Odd [i.e. From] Chancellor Ridge (nos. 14-27). 4: La Perouse Icefall from lower glacier (nos. 28-33). 5: Victoria Falls (nos. 34-36). 6: From Victoria Range (nos. 37-44). 7: Copland Pass & Valley (nos. 45-53). 8: Tasman Glacier floor (nos. 54-60). 9: From Malcolm Peak (nos. 61-72). 10: Pan[orama] of 3 from Chancellor Ridge (nos. 73-75). Many of the scenes show different angles of the main divide between Canterbury and Westland, including views of from Bismarck Peak (Glacier Peak to Pioneer Pass) looking along the Fritz Range; the divide from the Minarets to Conway; Pioneer Pass to Tasman; head of Franz Josef Glacier; Spenser [i.e. Mount Spencer], Conway and Malte Brun. Views from Mount Spencer include Mounts Tasman and Torres; Mounts Hackel, Hamilton, Malte Brun and De La Beche spur; Elie de Beaumont and Minarets; Triad Peaks; part of the Fritz Range. Views from the Chancellor Ridge include an overflow tent and camp on the ridge (500 feet above the Fox Glacier); down on the Fox Glacier from near the first campsite, and another from just below the Chancellor Ridge hut present hut site; Hardinger to Pioneer Pass; Mounts Lendenfeld, Tasman, Torres and Cook; Hardinger and Haast. Views of the La Perouse Icefall include head of the La Perouse Valley and Mount Tasman; the Tasman group; head of the Cook River Glacier Valley with Mt Tasman, Teichelmann Peak; Mounts Torres, Tasman and Teichelmann; Balfour Range. Views of the Victoria Falls (900 feet from the Fox Glacier). Views from the Victoria Range including the divide from Conway to Lendenfeld; upper Fritz Range; Mount Sefton; Lendenfeld to Davids Dome; Douglas to Tasman. Views from the Copland Pass include Mt Sefton and Footstool; up the Copland Valley from Welcome Flats; Mount Copland; hot springs at Welcome Flats; La Perouse. Views from the Tasman Glacier floor include Mounts Lendenfeld, Haast and Hardinger; Mount Cook; Ball Glacier. Views from Malcolm Peak include southwards along the divide, and southerly views of the Rakaia, Rangitata, Lambert and Lord Rivers; northerly, north easterly, southerly and south westerly views; the Lyell Glacier and Mt Arrowsmith; Mount Cook; Mount Tyndall. The final three images are a three part panorama taken from Chancellor Ridge of the divide (Conway to Haast), Tasman etc. and part of Fox Range across Fox Icefall, and part of the Fox Range as seen across the Fox Icefall.
