The couple are passing a central rata tree in flower, and there are bushcovered hills in the distance. In the foreground in front of the rata is a pool or section of a river. Location suggested to be the Hutt Valley, but may be one of the gorges off the western side of the harbour, possibly near the old Porirua Road.
