Description: Photographs of the following: a set of seven photographs by Collis and annotated by F P Corkill, land agent, re landholding around the Waiwhakaiho River; scenic views such as waterfalls, lakes, and the Pink and White Terraces; bridges with annotations re height etc; sixteen numbered photographs mounted two to a card of scenic views in the Taranaki Region, Rotorua and the far north (including ones of Taumaha Gorge, Taranaki and Lake Ora - location unidentified); a set of seven photographs of the Waipu Caves including Lot's wife, the anvil and the sugar loaf in Morrison's Cave; a clipping of St Paul's Cupola and a photograph of Kauri Gully, Northcote with annotations on resolutions passed re the establishment of reservations; a panorama in two photographs of Flagstaff Hill, Dunedin with annotations re a potential reserve; and two of a tramping party of three men and five boys resting at a waterfall. Description: Arrangement: Negatives at 1/2-011679 to 011688, 011692 to 011697, 011701 to 011726 Collection consists of contact prints from negatives made by A E Winzenberg in his Masterton studio. Quantity: 42 b&w copy photographic print(s) from 10" x 12" glass negatives. Provenance: Studio passed to Miss Iva Gordon, then (ca 1950) to Messrs Hope Cross & Richardson. The Taranaki negatives mentioned in the donation book are by William Andrews Collis. It is possible that the Winzenberg and Collis collections may have become intermingled.

Scenes of Parihaka, especially with relationship to the 1881 incident, include views of the pa (with Te Whiti's house visible); the Rahotu volunteer camp, the Rahotu Redoubt; Fort Rolleston; Sentry Hill; Pungarehu officers' quarters and redoubt; Nelson Camp; the Taranaki Rifles and Wellington Navals. Scenic views in the area show Mount Egmont, Bell's Falls, the `Meeting-of-the-Waters', White Cliffs, Sugar Loaf Islands, the New Plymouth breakwater, and views of the New Plymouth Recreation Ground.
