Description: Shows St Thomas's church, Mission Bay, founded 1843; Rangitoto Island in the background, the foreground unfinished. The church is shown with ivy growing over the roof, partly ruined. It is in an empty field of untended grass, with trees behind to the right, three cabbage trees and another tree in front. The church, a stone one, fell into a state of disrepair and was no longer intact by the early twentieth century Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - title and artist's initials, C. E. C.
