Description: Photocopy of the map of Messrs. Nairn's estate at Pourerere, which is bounded by the sea, the Huatokitoki Stream and Te Hapuka's boundary marked as the original boundary of Pourerere on the southern side, the Omakare Creek on the northern side. The Nairn's estate is divided, with acreages, as follows: A is Blackhead Division, B is Paraeroa Division, C is Omakare Division, D is Pourerere Division. The majority of subdivided lots are numbered with acreages and include the following names: J.G. Kinross, Hunter, Pelichet, Te Hapuka, D. Gollan, Northwood, Bridges, Russell. Includes a reference key to the old and new surveys, the latter including names of paddocks with acreages and areas of bush and scrub. Quantity: 1 map(s). Description: The papers consist of: Application form from Heather Brown; various histories of the estate; biographical information; land documents. See MS-Papers-9389-31 for published summary & photographs. The original owner was James Holms who acquired 1640 acres at Waimahaka in 1874. In 1951 his grandson William Turnbull Holms took over ownership of 700 acres of the estate and named it Eriskay. In 1989 the property was taken over by his daughter Heather Brown and her husband Geoff. They sold the farm in Sep 2008. In 2008 the property was awarded the New Zealand Century Farm and Station award to mark over 100 years of continuous ownership by one family. Quantity: 1 folder(s). Description: Public Works Department plan to accompany proclamation showing extension of Branch B of the Waimea Water Race. The water works are shown along Blue Reef and adjacent to Scotty's Gully. Also shows gold workings, dam and tunnels. Includes location plan showing Branch B to the south of Goldsborough and Waimea Creek. Also shows Stafford town, Liverpool Bill's Creek and Pretty Womans Gully. "This is the plan alluded to in a proclamation of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand dated this 'thirtieth' day of 'December' 187'4' proclaiming, declaring and defining the limits, description and line of water works referred to in the schedule of the said proclamation under the provisions of the Immigration and Public Works Act 1870 and 1871 and a copy of which accompanied by a book of references is to be deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of 'Hokitika' in the Province of 'Westland'".
